Community Work and Music Organizations

MSSU Flute Studio
Missouri Southern is located in Joplin, Missouri and offers a large-school experience in a small-school environment.

Whether you hope to perform, teach, or just keep music in your life while you pursue another degree, there's a place for you at Missouri Southern. Check out our upcoming events and activities, or contact Dr. Robinson for more information!

Dr. Robinson teaches applied flute, courses in music theory, and in world music.
Flute New Music Consortium
The Flute New Music Consortium is an organization with the shared mission of promoting new music for the flute by commissioning works, organizing simultaneous premieres, and encouraging repeat performances.

Dr. Robinson co-founded FNMC and serves as the Vice President and composition competition coordinator. Recently, she helped to launch the Composer Mentorship Program, which connects composers from under-represented groups with active performers to create new works, performances, and recordings of those works.

Heartland Opera

Established in 1998, this Joplin-based opera company describes its mission as bringing opera performances to the Four State area, including Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma. HOT engages national performers, but also strives to support exceptional local artists from the surrounding community.

In addition to performing with the HOT orchestra, Dr. Robinson joined their board in Fall 2020.
Oklahoma Flute Society
The Oklahoma Flute Society was created to benefit anyone who loves the flute, and offers opportunities for students, teachers, and professional players.

Dr. Robinson has served on the board since 2015, and presently serves as the Commission Chair and Competitions Coordinatory.
.... and you?
We all have big ideas, or a bucket list of things we'd do if we could find the right collaborators. Here are a few of mine, in varying stages of completion.

Do any sound like something you'd like to be involved in? You should definitely let me know; I'm always ready for a partner in crime.
